Day-5 Food Relief: YARID Organization and Omuggo & Bidibidi Refugee Settlements.

4220 4220 people viewed this event.

On Friday, with the help of our Partner Robert we visited Refugees from Rwanda, Congo, Burundi and South Sudan. Under the YARID organization that he leads, we were able to meet some of the men, women, youths and the elderly in this area. Some of them are sick. Many of them more so women and children are infected with HIV/ AIDS and HPV and other diseases. Some of them are affected through sharing the few toilets and the infected bathrooms. Since they live in slums, a big number of people share the same bathroom toilets and that is how most of them end up being infected by these incurable diseases.

Most of these women can barely afford medication and those who get some basic medication even go to bed hungry. We were able to reach out to these people and they were blessed.

“We were on medication but then we would sleep hungry and the medication would affect us this food support is a miracle. It is our answered prayer. Thank you so much may the Lord bless you so so much “one of the women testified. In this Nsambya area, we reached out to 150 refugees.

In addition, we also gave food relief to 20 vulnerable women who couldn’t walk to the food distribution points that we set up, so we had to take the food to them.

Refugees are some of the most vulnerable people in this country. Most of them do not have jobs. The food ratios are not given to them most times and sometimes even when they are given, they are very few compared to the refugees in the area. That is why we considered refugees most in this drive much as there are also other vulnerable people in the areas.

Outreaches in the refugee settlements:
We were able to reach out to two refugee settlements with our coordinators Emmanuel and James.
Omugo
We also gave some food support to the people in Omugo refugee settlement. We were able to reach out to 100 people in this camp.
Bidibidi
Likewise in Bidibidi refugee settlements, we were able to reach out to 100 people in this camp.
