
CALL FOR APPLICATIONS
TRAINING ON RECONCILIATION AND ALTERNATIVE DISPUTE RESOLUTION (ADR)
The Uganda Law Society (ULS), in collaboration with the Pilgrim Center for Reconciliation, invites applications from interested young people to participate in a two-week intensive training on Reconciliation and Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR).
The training is designed to equip participants with practical knowledge and skills in conflict prevention, mediation, negotiation, reconciliation, peacebuilding, and other alternative mechanisms for resolving disputes. The programme aims to nurture a new generation of youth leaders committed to promoting peaceful coexistence, social cohesion, and access to justice within their communities.
Eligibility
Applicants must be:
- Between 18 and 35 years of age;
- University and tertiary institution students; or
- Young lawyers and law students; or
- Community leaders and youth leaders; or
- Social workers, counsellors, and peacebuilding practitioners; or
- Religious and cultural youth leaders; or
- Refugees and refugee-led organisations; or
- Persons with disabilities (PWDs); or
- Young persons interested in learning about peaceful coexistence and resolving disputes through non-violent means; or
- Be available to attend the full two-week training programme.

- Receive a Certificate of Completion upon successful completion of the training.
Cost
Participation in the training is FREE OF CHARGE.
Training Dates
The training programme will commence on Monday, 17th August 2026 and run for a period of two (2) weeks. programme schedule, upon completion of the selection process.
Participants are expected to attend all training sessions and actively participate in the programme to qualify for the award of a Certificate of Participation.
Mode of Delivery and Training Schedule
The training will be conducted virtually through an online learning platform to enable participation by youth from different parts of Uganda and beyond. Participants will engage in interactive sessions facilitated by experienced practitioners in reconciliation, mediation, peacebuilding, and Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR).
Training sessions will be held Monday to Friday from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. (EAT) over a period of two (2) weeks. Participants are expected to attend all scheduled sessions and actively participate in discussions, practical exercises, and assignments to qualify for the award of a Certificate of Completion.
Selection Process
All applications received by the deadline will be reviewed by an independent Selection Committee based on the applicant’s demonstrated interest in reconciliation, peacebuilding, alternative dispute resolution, community engagement, and commitment to promoting peaceful conflict resolution within their communities.
The Selection Committee will also seek to ensure diversity in terms of gender, geographical representation, educational background, and professional experience. Preference may be given to applicants who demonstrate the potential to apply the knowledge and skills acquired during the training to advance peace, social cohesion, and access to justice initiatives.
Due to the limited number of training slots available, meeting the minimum eligibility requirements does not automatically guarantee selection. Only shortlisted and successful applicants will be contacted and invited to participate in the programme. The decision of the Selection Committee shall be final.
